Grandeus is an elongated, treeless ridge rising above the village of Łapsze Wyżne, offering panoramic views that far exceed its modest height. It's the southernmost peak of the Spiš Pieniny range, and reaching its summit requires little effort for a big visual reward.

The ridge stretches from west to east and has two summits — the western one (801.8 m) and the eastern one (795.2 m), the latter crowned by a massive radio, TV and cell phone transmitter mast. Because the slopes are open and covered in meadows and fields rather than forest, views open up almost the entire way — from Grandeus you can admire the Tatras, Kuraszowski Wierch in the Spiš Magura range, the Gorce Mountains to the north, and the Pieniny with their iconic Three Crowns to the east. In summer the ridge is green with farmland, in autumn it glows with color, and in winter the lack of tree cover makes the panoramas even more expansive.

How to reach the summit

• Dursztyn — via Wierch Dursztynek and Kalotów Wierch — easy trail, approx. 45 minutes
• Łapsze Wyżne — same trail in reverse, approx. 1 hour

Practical information

• The eastern summit (795.2 m) holds a large radio, TV and mobile network transmitter tower
• The trail crosses open, partly agricultural land — please respect the private farm fields

Interesting fact: according to some sources, the name of the whole ridge actually comes from the lower, eastern summit with the mast, even though the western peak is technically higher.
