Čierna hora (1,290 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Levoča Hills — a quiet, off-the-beaten-path range in the Slovak Carpathians. If you're after sweeping mountain views without the crowds, this summit has a lot to offer.

The peak sits within a broad, U-shaped ridge that stretches from Macková through Ihla all the way to Javorinka. Much of the terrain is open and deforested, meaning panoramic views accompany you for most of the hike. On a clear day you can spot the Belianske Tatras and part of the High Tatras on the horizon, along with the Kráľovohoľské Tatras, Volovské vrchy, Branisko massif and even Babia hora. The open ridgeline feels especially atmospheric in spring and autumn, when the surrounding hills glow with colour.

• There is no waymarked trail directly to the summit — the final section from Ihla to Čierna hora requires leaving the marked route and navigating without trail signs.

Administratively the peak falls within the municipalities of Jakubany and Lomnička in the Stará Ľubovňa district — a peaceful, rarely visited corner of Slovakia that rewards those willing to seek it out.
