Bukovina is a peak in the Spišská Magura range that owes its popularity mainly to its proximity to Bachledova Valley, one of the most accessible mountain resorts in the region. It's a great choice for hikers who want rewarding views without a demanding climb.

The summit itself is covered in continuous, at times sparse forest, so there's no view from the very top — but step onto the surrounding mountain meadows and the panorama opens up: the ridges of Spišská Magura, the neighboring Belianske Tatras, the Volovské and Levočské hills, and even peaks across the border in southern Poland. In summer the slopes are gentle and green, perfect for relaxed family hikes, while in winter Bachledova Valley turns into a ski resort, making the ridge easy to reach even outside hiking season.

How to reach the summit

• From the east, from Magurské sedlo saddle via Spádik and Smrečiny — blue trail (traverse), moderate difficulty
• From the west, from Magurka via the Malá poľana junction — blue trail (traverse)
• From Ždiar via Bachledova Valley and the Malá poľana junction — yellow trail
• From Jezersko via the Pod Bukovinou junction — green trail

Practical information

• A chairlift runs from Bachledova Valley up to the ridge, significantly shortening the approach
• The ridge marks the southern boundary of the buffer zone of Pieniny National Park

Even though the wooded summit keeps its views to itself, the surrounding meadows make this stretch of Spišská Magura one of the quieter, more scenic corners along the Slovak-Polish border.
