Brija (999.5 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, forested summit in the Spišská Magura range, tucked close to the Slovak-Polish border. If you enjoy off-the-beaten-path adventures with no crowds and a real sense of wilderness, this is a peak worth seeking out.

The summit is covered by dense forest, which creates a peaceful, sheltered atmosphere in all seasons — cool shade in summer and a snow-draped silence in winter. While the very top offers no open panorama due to the trees, clearer spots along the ridge reveal the surrounding summits of Spišská Magura and the nearby High Tatras. On the Polish side, peaks like Holowiec and Pawlikowski Wierch form the horizon. The landscape is calm, natural and unspoiled throughout the year.

• There is no marked hiking trail to the summit — good navigation skills or a GPS device are recommended.
• The ridge marks the boundary of Tatra National Park and the buffer zone of Pieniny National Park.
• The peak lies near the Polish border; the nearest Polish village is Jurgów to the northwest.

The nearby village of Osturňa, sitting at the eastern foot of Brija, is one of the best-preserved Rusyn villages in Slovakia — a lovely place to explore before or after your hike.
