Baraniarky (1,270 m a.s.l.) is a rewarding summit in the Kriváň part of the Malá Fatra mountains, tucked into a side ridge just 3 km southwest of the village of Terchová. What sets it apart is its open, grassy summit dome that delivers a surprisingly full 360-degree panorama for a peak of this height.

The mountain sits between the famous Vrátna valley to the east and the Veľká Bránica valley to the west. The slopes are mostly forested, but the top opens up into a rocky-meadow crown with minimal tall vegetation — perfect for soaking in the views. To the south and east you can trace the skyline of the Kriváň Fatra peaks from Stratenec all the way to Malý Rozsutec. To the north and west the landscape opens dramatically toward the Žilina basin, Kysuce Highlands, and Kysuce Beskids. In clear conditions you can spot the ridges of the Javorníky, Súľov Rocks, Moravian-Silesian Beskids, and even Oravská Magura — an impressive horizon for a mountain just over 1,200 metres.

• Bublen saddle (main ridge) — marked trail heading south through the Bublen saddle; moderate difficulty.

• The peak lies within Malá Fatra National Park — park regulations apply throughout.
• The western slopes are protected as the Veľká Bránica National Nature Reserve; stay on marked trails in that area.
• The neighbouring peak Sokolie (1,172 m) is separated from Baraniarky by the distinct Príslop saddle to the north.

Baraniarky rises just a short walk from Terchová, the birthplace of the legendary Slovak outlaw Juraj Jánošík — so the hills around here carry more than a little romantic folklore.
