Arshytsia is a wild, rocky ridge deep in the Gorgany — one of the most untamed parts of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Stretching over 26 km between the villages of Myslivky and Osmoloda, with its highest point Gorgan Ilemskyi reaching 1587 m, this is a destination for hikers who love raw, unspoilt mountain landscapes.

The ridge has a distinctly asymmetric profile: the south-western slopes are relatively gentle, while the north-eastern side drops steeply into numerous river valleys. The upper belt is covered in stone screes and dense conifer forests of spruce and pine. Near the summit ridge, dwarf mountain pine scrub and subalpine meadows — known locally as polonyny — open up with sweeping views. In winter the ridge becomes challenging due to snow and icy conditions.

The name 'Arshytsia' comes from Romanian, where 'arşiţa' means 'scorching heat' — fitting for the sun-drenched, treeless upper slopes that bake under the summer sun.
