Homole Gorge is one of the most beautiful and picturesque spots in the Pieniny Mountains — a narrow, deep limestone gorge with steep, nearly vertical walls reaching up to 120 meters high. It's a must-see destination for anyone visiting Jaworki, captivating visitors in every season.

The crystal-clear Kamionka stream flows along the gorge floor, forming numerous cascades as it winds between massive boulders. The reddish-tinted limestone walls (colored by iron content) support rare lime-loving plants and picturesque, light-loving juniper trees. In summer the gorge buzzes with hikers, in autumn the surrounding forest bursts with color, and in winter frozen cascades create a fairytale landscape. The atmosphere here is unique — cool, damp air, the rush of water, and towering cliffs make it easy to forget the rush of everyday life.

How to get there

• Jaworki (parking by the road) — entrance marked with a large sign, trail leads through the gorge to Dubantowska Polana and onward to Wysokie Skałki — walking time approx. 1 h 45 min, return approx. 1 h 15 min, difficulty: moderate

Practical information

• The gorge has been a nature reserve since 1963
• An entrance fee applies during the tourist season
• The trail crosses the stream several times — now via metal footbridges, previously hikers had to hop across boulders
• Wooden steps and railings ease the steep sections of the path
• At the end of the gorge lies a meadow with benches and the so-called Stone Books rock formation

Legend has it that treasure hunters searched the gorge as early as the 15th century, and archaeological research has confirmed that a fortress called Homola once stood here.
