Perched on a hill above Szentbékkálla, the Veléte Palace Ruins are a fascinating remnant of a Gothic-style bishop's residence in the Balaton Uplands. It's one of the rare medieval ruins around Lake Balaton that wasn't built for religious purposes, but as a residential building.

The roofless walls of this compact 7x7 meter, one-story structure still stand tall, reaching the height of the upper floor. A carved stone corbel juts out from one corner, a remnant of what was once a balcony. The surrounding landscape of the Veléte hill offers a peaceful, rural atmosphere typical of the Balaton Uplands, with vineyards and volcanic hills stretching into the distance. The site feels especially atmospheric in the quiet of early morning or during golden autumn light.
