Drábské světničky is one of the most enchanting spots in Bohemian Paradise — a medieval rock fortress carved directly into towering sandstone boulders, connected by a network of wooden bridges and ladders. It feels like stepping into a fairy tale, with history etched into every chiselled wall and narrow fissure. Whether you are a history enthusiast or simply love a good adventure, this place will leave a lasting impression.

Perched at around 370 metres above sea level on the northwestern edge of the Hrada plateau, the sandstone blocks rise up to 40 metres high and sit some 105–155 metres above the Jizera river valley below. The atmosphere shifts beautifully with the seasons: spring brings fresh greenery bursting between the rocks, summer offers cool shade within the narrow passages, and autumn drapes the surrounding forest in warm amber and gold. The site lies within the protected Příhrazské skály nature reserve and the NATURA 2000 network, giving it a wild, unspoiled feel throughout.

• Kavčina car park in the village of Dneboh — blue trail, approx. 0.6 km, easy — the quickest and most convenient approach.
• Březina railway station (line 070 Prague–Turnov) — yellow trail, approx. 2.5 km from the rocks — a great car-free option.

• Admission is free and no guide is required.
• Open from 1 April to 31 October, daytime hours only; access may be restricted in bad weather.
• Note: the inner circuit has been closed in recent years for conservation works — check current status before visiting (reopening expected around 2025–2026).
• Rock climbing on the castle boulders is prohibited to protect the cultural monument.

Hidden within the rock chapel, a carved stone altar was only rediscovered in 1921 — and historical inscriptions from the 16th and 17th centuries suggest that members of the Bohemian Brethren once held secret meetings in these very chambers. The stones have stories to tell at every turn.
