Rising from the heart of the town of Făgăraș at the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains, the citadel creates a striking silhouette in every season. In summer its towers reflect in the still moat waters; in autumn golden trees frame its massive bastions; in winter the frozen moat gives the whole complex an almost otherworldly atmosphere.
