Tucked away in Dresden's leafy Hosterwitz district, this modest former vintner's cottage was once the summer retreat of composer Carl Maria von Weber — and today it's the only museum in the world dedicated entirely to him. It's a lovely little detour for anyone interested in classical music, historic houses, or simply a quiet corner of Dresden away from the crowds.

The setting is what makes it special: a small hillside house at the edge of the Elbe valley basin, surrounded by vineyards and gardens that still evoke the 19th-century charm of Hosterwitz as a fashionable summer escape for Dresden's artists and elite. Come summer, the garden hosts concerts under the open sky; in autumn, the surrounding vine-covered slopes turn golden, making it a scenic stop even if you can't step inside.
