This gentle loop through the Hohen Forst woods near Kirchberg in Saxony takes you back to the age of silver mining, blending a peaceful forest walk with a hands-on history lesson. It's a great pick for families and anyone curious about the region's industrial past.

The trail starts at a parking area, from where signposts guide you through the historic Fürstenberg mining landscape. Along the way you'll pass 11 information panels, each with mining facts on one side and nature facts on the other. Waypoints include the old Wiesenburg country road, the „Schöne Aussicht” viewpoint with views toward the Silberstraße and Weißbach, the Zechenplatz with a rest area, nature conservation station and the „Engländerstolln”, the pit field of the „Tiefer Martin-Römer-Stolln”, the centre of the mining area, the „Kleiner Hirschenstein” hill, the „Hechtlöcher” with the mouth of the „Tiefer Martin-Römer-Stolln”, the „Große Forstwiese” meadow, and the „Gerichtseiche” oak tree.
