Švýcárna is the oldest year-round mountain hut in the Hrubý Jeseník range — a place where genuine highland character, a rich history dating back to 1829, and a prime location just 2.4 km from the summit of Praděd all come together. Sitting at 1,304 metres on the slopes of Malý Děd, it offers sweeping views toward the highest peak in Moravia and makes a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the Czech Sudetes.

The atmosphere here is warm and unhurried. In summer, the rolling green ridges and wildflower meadows of the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area draw hikers from all directions — four marked trails and a cycling route radiate directly from the hut. Come winter, the surroundings transform into a quiet snowscape, with the famous Jesenická Magistrála cross-country ski route passing right by, and a small drag lift and ski school operating on the nearby slope of Malý Děd.

The hut takes its name from its very first caretaker: a Swiss national named Johan Aegerter, who arrived here in 1829 — a small Swiss connection that still echoes in the German name 'Die Schweizerei' and the cosy wooden bell tower erected in 2006 in memory of those lost in the mountains.
