Nestled at 1,168 m above sea level on the alpine meadow below Łabski Szczyt peak, right on the dramatic rim of the Łabski Cirque in the Karkonosze Mountains, this is one of the oldest and most atmospheric mountain huts in the Polish Sudetes. Whether you come for a day hike or an overnight stay, the combination of rugged mountain scenery, a cosy fireplace and centuries of history makes it an unforgettable stop.

The hut's surroundings are wonderfully diverse — dwarf pine, rowan, bilberry and heather carpet the slopes, while rare alpine plants such as white false hellebore add botanical interest. In summer the meadow buzzes with insects, in autumn it glows with warm colours, and in winter a thick blanket of snow transforms the landscape into something truly magical. The edge of the Łabski Cirque offers one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the Polish Karkonosze.

The hut's roots go back to the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), when it served as one of the first shepherd's shelters in the Karkonosze and even guarded the historic Bohemian Path during a local epidemic — over 400 years of welcoming weary travellers.
