Perched on a small plateau below Little Black Peak, Ribnica Lodge holds the title of the highest mountain lodge in the entire Pohorje range. It's a rewarding destination for anyone chasing wide views over the rolling hills of northeastern Slovenia.
The surrounding landscape is classic Pohorje - gentle ridges, quiet forests and open plateaus that make for relaxed year-round hiking. In winter the area comes alive with a small ski resort featuring three surface lifts, while summer visitors enjoy peaceful trails and cool mountain air. The lodge stays open all year, making it a reliable stop whatever the season.
How to get to the lodgeThe original lodge, built by Maribor merchant Josip Hutter, was burned down by Partisan fighters in 1942; the lodge standing today was reopened by hikers in 1949.
