Rauriser Tauernhaus is one of Austria's oldest mountain huts, standing on the same spot since 1491 and preserved in nearly its original condition. It sits in the side valley of Seidlwinkltal, off the Raurisertal, right along an ancient Roman road connecting Wörth and Heiligenblut near the Großglockner.
This place carries a special sense of history - centuries ago, muleteers led Pinzgau horses along this route, carrying gold mined in the Tauern mountains south towards Heiligenblut. Today it offers a peaceful high-altitude setting surrounded by alpine pastures, with views over the Hohe Tauern range that shift with the seasons - lush green slopes and grazing cattle in summer, golden grasses in autumn, and quiet snow-covered stillness in winter.

Practical information
It's worth knowing that this same route was once a gold trail - muleteers once carried precious ore mined in the Tauern mountains all the way to Heiligenblut.
