Pomezní Boudy is the northernmost part of the village of Horní Malá Úpa, sitting right on the Czech-Polish border next to its Polish twin settlement, Graniczne Budy. It's a place where two mountain cultures have long met, and it remains a lively hub for hikers crossing between the Giant Mountains on both sides of the border.
The settlement lies in a valley between Smrčinná hora and Lysečinská hora, at an elevation of 1050 metres above sea level. Gentle, forested slopes surround it, and the mountain atmosphere shifts beautifully with the seasons — summer brings excellent hiking opportunities, while winter transforms the area into a peaceful, snow-covered landscape perfect for cross-country skiing and quiet walks. This is also the starting point of the Czech-Polish Friendship Trail, which leads over Sněžka all the way to Špindlerova bouda.
