Nestled at 1,208 metres above sea level on the Czech-Polish border in the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), Špindlerova bouda — affectionately known as Špindlerka — is a mountain hotel with centuries of history and a fantastic position for exploring both sides of the ridge. Whether you're after a short scenic walk or a full-day summit push, this place has you covered.

The landscape around Špindlerka is classic Giant Mountains: rolling subalpine terrain, wide open views, and rocky outcrops that punctuate the skyline. The hill of Malý Šišák rises just above the hut, and on clear days you can pick out the distinctive rock formations of Dívčí kameny and Polední kámen in the distance. In summer the trails burst with wildflowers and birdsong; in winter the area transforms into a snow-covered wonderland perfect for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The terrain is generally accessible to families and casual walkers, yet the hut also serves as a launchpad for more demanding routes up to Sněžka (1,603 m), the highest peak in the Czech Republic.

A bus line connects Špindlerův Mlýn directly to the hut, making it easy to arrive without a car.

Built in 1784 by František Špindler, the hut survived two fires and even served as an internment camp for Allied officers — French, British and American — during World War II. Today it welcomes a far friendlier crowd of hikers and mountain lovers.
