Chata pod Soliskom (1,830 m) is the youngest mountain hut in the Slovak High Tatras, perched just below the summit of Predné Solisko. Whether you are a skier looking for shelter from the weather or a hiker hunting for a cosy base among dramatic ridges, this hut delivers exactly what a mountain refuge should.

The setting is stunning in every season. In winter the hut sits in the middle of one of the Tatras' busiest ski areas, originally built as a warm shelter for skiers caught by bad weather on the slopes. Come summer, the surrounding landscape of the Mlynica and Furkotná valleys, the Bástya ridge and the long Solisko ridge unfolds into a hiker's paradise. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming — far from the bustle of larger resort hotels.

• From Štrbské Pleso — blue trail alongside the chairlift (passing hotel FIS), approx. 1 hour, easy.
• From Štrbské Pleso via Furkotná valley — red trail towards Podbanské, then yellow trail right into Furkotná valley, then blue trail over Soliské sedlo (Solisko saddle) to the hut, approx. 1 hour 30 min., moderate.
• From the upper station of the chairlift next to hotel FIS — approx. 50 metres on foot, very easy.

• Altitude: 1,830 m above sea level.
• Accommodation: 2 dormitory rooms with bunk beds (6 double bunks and 5 triple bunks).
• Restaurant: seats 30 guests.
• Fully rebuilt in 2003 — accommodation was not available before that renovation.

Fun fact: the hut was officially opened in 1944 but was not truly finished until 1946, making it the youngest high-mountain hut in the entire High Tatras — a youngster with a fascinating wartime story.
