Qafa Bordolecit is a mountain pass in the Albanian Alps, sitting right on the watershed between the Danube and the Adriatic Sea. It is a place where roads, culture and centuries-old tradition of the Kelmend highland region all meet, framed by dramatic mountain views.
The surrounding landscape is classic Albanian Alps terrain — high pastures, forests and rugged ridgelines. In summer the meadows come alive with grazing herds and wildflowers, while in winter snow can make the pass difficult to reach. Spring and autumn bring a quieter, raw beauty that is hard to find elsewhere in the Balkans. The atmosphere here is shaped as much by nature as by local tradition and history.
How to get thereThe pass has long served as an important gathering place for the people of Kelmend. The festival originally took place on the feast day of Saint Prende, a pre-Christian goddess of beauty, when women traditionally wore their finest clothes.
