Jánošíkova jaskyňa is a mysterious karst cave hidden near the very summit of Strážov — the highest peak of the Strážovské vrchy mountains in western Slovakia. Its entrance sits at 1,174 m above sea level, just below the top, making it one of the most remarkable natural features in the range. The cave carries the name of the legendary Slovak outlaw Jánošík, adding a touch of folklore and adventure to any visit.

The Strážov massif offers sweeping views over the western Slovak hills, and the forests surrounding the cave create a dense, atmospheric landscape. Spring and summer bring birdsong and lush greenery to the slopes, while autumn transforms the hillsides into a blaze of colour. The cave itself conceals collapse corridors and large chambers formed by fissure, subsidence and fluviokarstic processes — stretching 356 m in total length and reaching 17 m in depth. Bats make their home here too, giving the place a wonderfully wild feel.
