Hermannskarsee is a striking alpine tarn resting at 2216 m in the Allgäu Alps, tucked into the rocky high valley known as Hermannskar. It's a place where raw mountain wilderness takes center stage, offering a true escape into high-alpine solitude.

The lake is encircled by dramatic peaks - the Großer Krottenkopf to the southwest, the Hornbachspitze to the west, and the Faulewandspitzen to the north, with the Marchspitze rising to the east. This oval tarn, measuring roughly 160 by 100 meters, sits above the treeline amid rock and scree. For much of the year, even well into summer, its surface remains frozen and snow-covered, giving the spot a distinctly wild, high-mountain atmosphere. It's a rewarding destination for hikers seeking dramatic scenery and quiet far from crowded trails.
