Wysoki Kamień (1058 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding summits in the Jizera Mountains, rising steeply above the resort town of Szklarska Poręba. Rocky hornfels outcrops crown the top, a brand-new viewing tower offers sweeping vistas, and the trail along the ridge makes for a genuinely satisfying day out.

From the summit you can take in the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains), the Jizera Mountains, the Kaczawa Mountains and the Rudawy Janowickie range all at once. The ridge stretching westward hides three prominent rocky knolls — Duży Wysoki Kamień (1050 m), Zawalidroga (1025 m) and an unnamed rise (1023 m) — giving the route real variety. In autumn the beech forests glow gold, in winter a blanket of snow transforms the ridge into a quiet wonderland, and spring mists rolling through the valleys add a touch of magic.

The Schaffgotsch family built one of the very first mountain huts in the Sudetes here back in 1837, and a viewing tower followed in 1875 — making Wysoki Kamień a place with a long tradition of welcoming hikers to its spectacular ridge.
