Wielkie Solisko (2,412 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Solisko Ridge in the Slovak High Tatras — a raw, trailless summit separating the Mlynicka Valley from the Furkotna Valley. The peak sits boldly in the Solisko Ridge, with its western face dropping around 200 metres sharply towards Vyšné Veľké Furkotné pleso lake, while the eastern side — broader, laced with ribs and gullies — descends about 300 metres into the Mlynicka Valley, forming a sweeping rocky complex together with the neighbouring faces of Prostredné Solisko. In summer the scenery is strikingly dramatic: jagged ridges, glittering tarns far below and a wide-open panorama towards the main Tatra crest. In winter the summit becomes a serious mountaineering objective suited only to experienced alpinists.

The slopes of Wielkie Solisko are home to abundant populations of the dwarf buttercup, a rare Tatra alpine plant. The first recorded summer ascent was made on 19 July 1903, and the first winter ascent followed only in 1912 — a telling sign of just how serious this summit can be.
