Wielka Semenowa is a peak for hikers who want to venture beyond the well-trodden Bieszczady trails — sitting right on the Polish-Ukrainian border, surrounded by wild, rarely visited grassy ridges. It's a place for lovers of borderlands and solitude, where the landscape seems to ignore the line drawn on the map.

The area impresses with the raw, open character typical of the Western Bieszczady Mountains — gentle grassy ridges, sweeping views, and a strong sense of remoteness. In summer the alpine meadows (poloninas) turn green and flower-strewn, in autumn they glow golden-brown, and in winter the terrain becomes demanding and quiet, adding to its wild appeal. From the summit stretches a panorama of the most important peaks of the Bieszczady and Eastern Carpathians, including Pikuj some 41 km away and Wyhorlat visible from 42 km.

How to reach the summit

• Via the blue trail running along the northern slopes (part of the long-distance route from Rzeszów to Grybów) — moderate route, though there is no marked path leading directly to the summit itself
• From the Ukrainian side: a red trail from Stuzhytsia leading up to the main ridge

Practical information

• The peak lies directly on the Polish-Ukrainian border — reaching the very summit may involve crossing the border line, so caution and good orientation are essential
• No official marked tourist trails lead to the summit itself

Its neighbours — the well-known Wielka Rawka and the twin-height Mała Semenowa — make this trio one of the more intriguing, yet far less crowded, stretches of the Bieszczady border ridge.
