Wielka Desztna (1116 m a.s.l.) holds the title of the highest peak in the Central Sudetes — and it more than lives up to the distinction. This broad, dome-shaped summit in the Czech part of the Orlické Mountains offers sweeping panoramic views, peaceful forest trails, and a brand-new observation tower opened in 2019 that brings the horizon back into full focus.

The summit has a wide, rounded top with noticeably steep flanks, draped in dense forest and patches of young woodland. In summer the atmosphere is lush and tranquil, perfect for a relaxed hike; in winter a blanket of snow transforms the landscape into something beautifully stark. From the observation tower you can take in a full panorama across the ridges and valleys of the Orlické and Bystřické Mountains.

• Zieleniec (part of Duszniki-Zdrój, approx. 3.6 km north of the summit) — red trail, known as the Jirásek Trail (Jiráskova cesta), moderate walking time, difficulty: easy to moderate
• Alternative: green trail, following the winding road up to the top via switchbacks

• The summit is on the Czech side of the border — carry a valid ID or passport.
• A tourist shelter and a former refreshment kiosk are located at the top.
• On the northern slope, beside the road leading to the summit, you can spot Czech pre-war military bunkers and fortifications.
• Just below the summit to the north lies the Jelení lázeň nature reserve — a small upland peat bog worth a short detour.

Centuries ago this peak was known as 'Siedmiogrodzka Góra' — the Transylvanian Mountain — a mysterious old name that still sparks curiosity among those who make the climb.
