Vezhen rises to 2198 metres as one of the most distinctive summits of the Zlatitsa-Tetevenska section of the Central Balkan range in Bulgaria. Its wide, plateau-like top and untamed surroundings make it a rewarding destination for hikers seeking solitude and sweeping mountain views.
The summit forms a broad, flattened plateau, and its main ridge marks the boundary of the Tsarichina Reserve. Nearby stands the largest continuous forest of Macedonian pine (Pinus peuce) in the area. Winters here are harsh, with fierce winds, snowstorms, and snow cover reaching up to 2 metres in the final winter months and early spring, creating significant avalanche risk. These deep snows are the source of the Beli Vit River. In summer, the plateau opens up to expansive views typical of the Central Balkan range.
