Velký Klín (1177 m a.s.l.) is one of the most recognisable peaks in the Czech Hrubý Jeseník range — its distinctive double-humped, wedge-like silhouette is easy to spot from the surrounding roads, especially from the switchbacks on the slopes of neighbouring Červená hora. This quiet, forested summit rewards those who seek it out with genuine solitude and unspoiled nature rather than crowded viewpoints.

The mountain is covered predominantly by spruce forest, with mixed and deciduous woodland appearing lower on the slopes. The summit itself hides among the trees, so don't expect sweeping panoramas — instead, enjoy a truly wild, off-the-beaten-path atmosphere. In winter the mountain transforms into a Nordic skier's paradise, with cross-country ski trails threading through the snow-covered forest. On the north-eastern slope, the Javorový stream tumbles down a spectacular cascade of ten waterfalls.

• From Červenohorské sedlo pass (approx. 2 km from the summit) — via yellow trail towards Velký Klín, difficulty: moderate
• From Filipovice village (approx. 2.8 km) — blue trail via Jeřáb, difficulty: moderate

• No marked hiking trail leads directly to the summit — the final stretch follows an unmarked path; a detailed map is strongly recommended
• A geodetic point (no. 4) with a metal warning post marks the top
• Chata Eduard mountain hut and the Veřejné tábořiště Koliba campsite are located at the foot of the north-eastern slope
• The entire mountain lies within the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Jeseníky)

The ridge on which Velký Klín stands forms part of the Great European Watershed — waters from these slopes eventually drain into the Baltic Sea via the Oder river basin, giving this modest, forested peak an unexpectedly grand role on the map of Europe.
