Veľká Vápenica (1,692 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding summits in the eastern Low Tatras — a wide, open alpine meadow offering a full 360-degree panorama that will leave you speechless. It combines easy accessibility with genuinely spectacular views, making it a favourite for hikers of all levels.

The summit plateau is remarkably flat and covered almost entirely in low alpine vegetation, which means unobstructed views in every direction. On a clear day you can see not only the surrounding peaks of the Low Tatras but also the High Tatras, the Western Tatras, the Choc Hills, Poľana, and the Veporské and Stolické ranges. The southern slopes are forested, and just below the top you pass through a belt of mountain pine with occasional Swiss stone pine. The summit itself features some bizarrely shaped rock formations that add a touch of drama to the otherwise gentle landscape. In winter the plateau becomes a snow-covered wilderness; in summer the wind sweeps through short grasses — the atmosphere is always wonderfully wild and open.
