Travný (1,203 m a.s.l.) is one of the most rewarding yet least crowded summits in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids — a massive, partly forested peak that offers sweeping views, pristine old-growth beech forests and a genuine sense of wilderness. If you are looking for a mountain that still feels untamed, this is it.

The summit sits 3 km southeast of the village of Krásná and delivers views westward to Lysá hora, northwest towards Frýdek-Místek and Ostrava, and north along the Prašivá–Javorový ridge. The terrain is steep in every direction, with nearly 800 metres of elevation gain from the valley — so come prepared for a proper workout. In summer the slopes are carpeted with wild blueberries, and in every season the forest tells a story: the western slope is protected as the Travný Nature Reserve (154.85 ha), where the vegetation shifts from acidic beech woods at the bottom to spruce-dominated stands near the top.

• Since 1 May 2020 all tourist trail markers to the summit have been removed to protect the Western capercaillie breeding programme. Hiking to the top remains legal but requires independent navigation.
• There is no mountain hut or any tourist facility on or near the summit.

Travný is one of the last refuges of the Western capercaillie in the Beskids — this rare and elusive bird is being actively reintroduced under the massif, which is precisely why the trails were demarked.
