Tábor (678 m a.s.l.) is a charming hilltop destination in the Bohemian Paradise region that packs a surprising amount into one visit — a stately 35-metre brick lookout tower, a baroque pilgrimage church, and sweeping panoramic views that stretch across dozens of peaks. It is a place where history, nature and scenery come together in the most pleasant way.

The hill rises 3 km south of Lomnice nad Popelkou and forms an asymmetric east–west ridge with gentle northern slopes and steeper southern faces. The summit is cloaked in mixed spruce and oak forest, which offers shade in summer and a blaze of colour in autumn. From the tower you can spot landmarks like Kozákov, Trosky, Ještěd, Bezděz and Černá Hora — one of the finest viewpoints in the whole region.

• From Lomnice nad Popelkou — approx. 2 km, marked trail, easy to moderate, about 40–50 minutes on foot.
• From Kyje u Jičína railway station (line 064 Libuň–Stará Paka) — red trail, approx. 1.3 km to the summit, easy.
• From Ploužnice railway station (same line) — red trail and cycling route no. 4142, moderate.
• By car: parking available directly at the guesthouse on the summit.

• Tichánkova lookout tower is open year-round; the wooden staircase has 173 steps.
• A restaurant, guesthouse and snack bar are located at the summit.
• A seasonal tourist information centre operated by the town of Lomnice nad Popelkou is open on site.
• About 1 km below the summit stands Alain's Tower — a neo-Gothic stone lookout converted for visitors in 2015, reachable via the blue trail.
• Access roads are snowploughed in winter and are generally passable.

The name 'Tábor' echoes the Hussite era, when great assemblies of the people were held on this very hill. The elegant brick tower built in 1911 — organised by Josef Tichánek, grandfather of Czech actress Věra Tichánková — is considered one of the most beautiful lookout towers in Bohemia.
