Szerzawa is a quiet summit tucked away in the heart of the Jizera Mountains, perfect for hikers who prefer forest solitude over crowded trails. It's not a dramatic viewpoint peak, but it has a raw Sudeten charm and marks an important stop along the Main Sudetes Trail.

The mountain is built of granite gneiss, typical of the Izera metamorphic complex. Its southern, western and eastern slopes descend gently, making for pleasant approaches, while the northern side drops steeply toward the Kwisa valley — and it's here that the watershed line between the Baltic and North Sea drainage basins runs. In summer the summit is wrapped in spruce forest greenery, in autumn it glows with color, and in winter, with a bit of snow, the whole High Ridge becomes a peaceful playground for winter hiking.

How to reach the summit

• Świeradów-Zdrój — red trail (Main Sudetes Trail of M. Orłowicz), approx. 3 km, moderate difficulty

Practical information

• The summit lies directly on the red trail, so it's hard to miss while hiking the High Ridge
• A good starting point for continuing toward Rudy Grzbiet and Mokra Przełęcz

Worth knowing: an invisible but geographically significant watershed runs across the summit — rain falling on one side flows to the Baltic Sea, and on the other to the North Sea.
