Szeroki Wierch is one of those Bieszczady ridges that stays with you long after the hike. Open alpine meadows, sweeping views and genuine wilderness — this is the soul of the Polish Carpathians at its finest.

From the exposed ridge of Szeroki Wierch you can see some of the most iconic peaks of the Western Bieszczady: Połonina Caryńska, the Rawki massif, Bukowe Berdo, Krzemień and the highest Polish Bieszczady summit — Tarnica. The ridge is elongated, with four distinct tops; the highest one (1315 m) even carries its own name — Tarniczka. Walking along the open połonina, the scenery shifts with every step and every season: golden grasses in autumn, valley mists in spring and rolling green waves in summer.

• Ustrzyki Górne — red trail (part of the Main Beskid Trail), approx. 3 h, moderate — the route crosses Goprowska Pass (1160 m) and continues along the full length of the ridge to Przełęcz pod Tarnicą.

• Szeroki Wierch lies within Bieszczady National Park — an entry fee is required.
• The red trail crossing the ridge is a section of the Main Beskid Trail, one of the longest mountain hiking routes in Poland.
• Goprowska Pass (1160 m) was historically used as a seasonal mountain rescue (GOPR) outpost during summer months.

On the southern slope of Szeroki Wierch grows thyme broomrape — an exceptionally rare plant in Poland, worth looking out for on the descent towards the Wołosatka valley.
