Štrbské Solisko (2,302 m a.s.l.) is one of the most striking peaks in the Solisko Ridge of the High Tatras — a bold, rocky summit that stands out clearly above Štrbské Pleso lake when viewed from below. It promises wild alpine scenery and a sweeping panorama that makes every step worthwhile.

The peak sits on the boundary between two beautiful valleys — Mlynická and Furkotská — which it divides like a stone wall. The terrain is rugged and alpine: bare rock, scree and, lower down, patches of dwarf pine. In autumn the slopes glow with warm russet tones; in winter the summit is coated in snow and ice, making it even more serious. From the top, a full 360-degree view takes in countless High Tatra summits as well as distant ranges including the Low Tatras, Veľká Fatra and the Spiš-Gemer Karst.

• Štrbské Pleso (car park and railway station) — no marked trail leads to the summit; ascent is possible only with a licensed mountain guide, very demanding, rocky terrain.
• The neighbouring Predné Solisko (2,117 m) is served by a marked trail and is the only nearby option for hikers without a guide.

• The summit lies within the protected zones of the Furkotská Valley and Mlynická Valley National Nature Reserves — access only with a licensed mountain guide.
• No marked hiking trail to the top exists.

The name 'Solisko' traces back to an old shepherding tradition — herdsmen used to leave salt for their sheep and cattle at the foot of the ridge. A tiny, quietly forgotten trace of human life in this wild Tatra wilderness.
