Sulica is a quiet, unassuming peak in the northern part of the Lasocki Ridge in the Karkonosze (Giant) Mountains. It's a great pick for hikers who want to escape the crowds of Śnieżka or Szrenica while still enjoying atmospheric spruce forests and gentle mountain trails.

The landscape here is typical of this part of the Karkonosze — soft, forested slopes built from gneisses and mica schists. The summit and its flanks are cloaked in dense upper-montane spruce forest, creating a fairytale, snow-covered scene in winter and welcome shade on hot summer days. This is a mountain for those who value the forest atmosphere over dramatic viewpoints.

How to reach the summit

• Przełęcz Kowarska — yellow trail leading to Przełęcz Okraj across Sulica's north-western slope, moderate difficulty
• Lubawka via Rozdroże Kowarskie — green trail leading to Rozdroże pod Sulicą along the southern slope, moderate difficulty

Practical information

• On the slope, along the road from Rozdroże pod Sulicą down to the Jeleni Potok valley, stands a memorial stone dedicated to Adolf Roth, a teacher from Kamienna Góra and mountain enthusiast who died on this spot in 1927
• Via Przełęcz Kowarska, Sulica connects to Rudnik, the first peak of the neighbouring Rudawy Janowickie range
• Winding mountain roads with sharp hairpin turns run along the eastern and southern slopes towards Jarkowice, Miszkowice and Lubawka

The mountain's old German name, Molkenberg, and the memorial stone to Adolf Roth are quiet reminders of the pre-war history of these mountains and the people who loved them long before us.
