Suchý vrch (1,550 m a.s.l.) sits along the main ridge of Veľká Fatra, one of Slovakia's most rewarding mountain ranges, and rewards visitors with sweeping views that stretch far beyond the range itself. Its open, treeless summit dome makes it a highlight of the famous Veľkofatranská magistrála long-distance trail.

The peak has the character of a modest rocky knoll rising above broad alpine meadows — understated in profile, but genuinely impressive once you're on top. In summer the ridge is fragrant with mountain herbs and dotted with grazing traditions; in autumn the slopes glow with colour; in winter snow transforms this into a demanding but beautiful destination. On a clear day you can spot parts of the Low and High Tatras, the Poľana plateau, the Chočské vrchy, the Orava Beskids, Malá Fatra, and even the Moravian-Silesian Beskids — a panorama that spans a huge slice of central Europe.

• The summit lies within a national park and a national nature reserve with the highest level of protection — please stay on marked paths.
• The Veľkofatranská magistrála traverses the western slope rather than the very top; a short detour leads to the actual summit.
• A shepherd's hut with a drinking water spring stands just north of the summit.

Although Suchý vrch is nearly 50 metres lower than its neighbour Ostredok — the highest peak in Veľká Fatra — many hikers say the views from here feel even more open and unobstructed, making it one of the finest vantage points in the entire range.
