The Schlicker Zinnen are a striking group of rock spires rising to 2578 m in the Stubai Alps, part of the dramatic Kalkkögel range. This is a destination for those drawn to raw, untamed alpine terrain rather than marked trails and crowds.

The surrounding landscape is defined by pale limestone pinnacles jutting sharply above the Stubaital valley, creating one of the most distinctive skylines in the Kalkkögel. In summer, the rock faces bask in strong alpine light, with far-reaching views toward neighboring peaks - Steingrubenkogel to the southwest and Hochtennspitze to the northeast. In winter and early spring, the terrain becomes considerably more serious, with steep, loose rock demanding caution and experience.

How to reach the summit

• There is no official via ferrata or marked path to the summit - reaching it requires scrambling experience and confident route-finding on rock
• The usual approach traverses the massif from the Hochtennscharte, north of the Schlicker Zinnen, to the notch south of the Steingrubenwand

Practical information

• No marked trail exists to the top - this is a route for experienced mountaineers comfortable with unmarked alpine terrain
• The Adolf-Pichler-Hütte serves as a base in the area, though the neighboring Steingrubenwand blocks direct views of the Schlicker Zinnen from there

Seen from the west, the slender spires of the Schlicker Zinnen stand out clearly from the bulkier Steingrubenwand to the south - a contrast in rock forms that gives this corner of the Kalkkögel its unmistakable silhouette.
