Scheuereckberg (1,193 m) is a quietly rewarding summit in the Bavarian Forest National Park, tucked between the Großer Falkenstein and the Großer Rachel. What sets it apart is the sweeping alpine meadow that crowns its top — a place where time seems to slow right down.

The summit plateau is home to the Jährlingschachten, considered one of the most beautiful 'Schachten' — traditional high pastures — in the entire Bavarian Forest. Ancient mountain maples dot the meadow, survivors from the days when cattle grazed up here, while the ground is carpeted with bilberry shrubs that blaze with colour in autumn. A small rustic shelter marks the approach to the highest point, where a modest summit cross stands on a rocky outcrop. From here, the views reach across to the Czech Poledník (Mittagsberg), the Lackenberg and the Großer Falkenstein — a panorama that feels almost secret given how few visitors find their way here.
