Runek Hubieński is a modest, forest-covered summit in the Lubań Range within the Gorce Mountains — a hidden gem for hikers who prefer quiet trails over crowded viewpoints. If you're looking for a peaceful walk through untouched Carpathian woodland, this is the spot.

The summit itself offers no sweeping views, being entirely covered by spruce forest, but the surrounding ridge is scenic, dropping steeply south toward Maniowy and separating the Piekiełko stream from its tributary, the Poddziańkówka. The name Runek comes from the Vlach word 'runc', meaning a clearing created by burning forest — though today no trace of any clearing remains. In winter the forest is hushed and snow-draped, while in summer it offers cool, shaded relief from the heat.

How to get to the summit

• Kotelnica — Main Beskid Trail, a short walk, easy to moderate difficulty
• Polana Wybrańska — Main Beskid Trail, approaching from the opposite direction, easy to moderate difficulty

• The marked trail bypasses the actual summit on its northern side — you'll need to step off the path briefly to reach the top
