Ropica (1082 m a.s.l.) is a quietly captivating summit in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, crowned by a wooden sculpture of Perun — the Slavic god of thunder and storms. There are no mountain huts, no cable cars, no crowds: just forest trails, fresh air, and a touch of ancient Slavic spirit waiting at the top.

The mountain is blanketed in a mixed spruce-beech forest that keeps things cool and shady in summer and turns into a riot of colour in autumn. The summit itself is forested, so panoramic views are limited, but the journey through these peaceful Beskid woods is a reward in itself. In winter, the snow-covered paths make for a wonderfully atmospheric hike.

• From Šindelná junction (approx. 1 km to the WSW) — red KČT trail; access from Javorový mountain hut (4 km, blue trail)
• From Ropice junction (approx. 1 km to the WNW) — red KČT trail; access from Slavíč mountain hut (6 km, red trail)
• From Velký Lipový junction (approx. 1 km to the ESE) — red KČT trail; access from Morávka village (4.5 km, yellow trail)

• About 300 m east of the summit, along the red trail between Ropice and Velký Lipový junctions, you will find a natural spring and a small hiking shelter — a perfect rest stop.
• The summit and part of the slopes have been protected as the Ropice Nature Reserve since 2011.
• There is no hut or refreshment facility on the summit itself.
• A white-marked cycling route no. 6083 between Horní Lomná and Komorní Lhotká passes through all three junctions around the peak.

The Perun sculpture at the top carries a meaningful message: it stands as a symbol of mutual tolerance and unity between Czechs, Slovaks, and Poles — a reminder that mountains have always brought people together rather than divided them.
