Raróg is a small but distinctive summit in the Suche Mountains, part of the Central Sudetes, offering a quiet forest hike away from the crowds. Its cone-like shape with steep slopes and a dome-shaped top gives it a surprisingly solid mountain character despite its modest elevation.

The peak is entirely covered by lower montane forest - a spruce monoculture - except for a small meadow on the eastern slope reaching up to 720 m a.s.l., which offers a pleasant break from the dense woods in summer. On the north-eastern slope, below the summit, lies an old melaphyre quarry with a water-filled pit, an interesting spot for anyone curious about local geology. In winter the snow-covered forest brings a deep sense of stillness, while summer greenery and the open meadow add variety to the otherwise uniform woodland scenery.

How to reach the summit

• Via the green border trail running from Tłumaczów to the Okraj Pass - the path passes about 40 m below the summit on the south-western slope, moderate difficulty
• Reaching the actual top requires a short detour off the marked trail; the steep slopes call for a bit of extra caution

Practical information

• An inactive melaphyre quarry with a flooded pit lies on the slope - caution is advised near the edges

Raróg is built of volcanic rocks - melaphyres (trachybasalts) - making it a notable point on the geological map of the Kamienne Mountains and a witness to the volcanic past of the Intra-Sudetic Basin.
