Pytlácké kameny (975 m a.s.l.) is a hidden gem in the Jizera Mountains of northern Czechia — a summit that surprises visitors not with its height, but with its striking granite rock formations and far-reaching views over a beautifully wild landscape. Situated on the Middle Ridge in the eastern part of the Jizera Mountains, just north of the charming village of Jizerka, the summit itself is fairly subtle — but the rocky outcrops that share its name are anything but. Carved from porphyritic Krkonoše granite, the rocks display fascinating multi-directional jointing and classic 'mattress weathering', where rounded granite slabs stack up like giant pillows. From the top, you are rewarded with sweeping views across the Jizera Mountains and the western Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). The area feels equally magical in summer greenery and under a blanket of winter snow.

• About 500 m southwest of the summit stands a cross marking the spot where a poacher named Hennrich was shot in 1813 — a worthwhile short detour.
• The northern slopes drain into the Izera river, the southern slopes into the Jizerka stream.

The name 'Pytlácké kameny' literally means 'Poacher's Rocks' in Czech — a nod to the outlaw Hennrich who used these boulders as his hideout until his dramatic end in 1813.
