Predné Solisko (2,117 m) is one of the most rewarding and accessible peaks in the Slovak Tatras — a summit that punches well above its weight when it comes to views. Perched at the southern tip of the Solisko Ridge, directly above Štrbské Pleso, it offers a stunning 360-degree panorama without demanding a full alpine expedition.

The rocky, freely accessible summit looks out over dozens of High Tatra peaks — from Kriváň to Rysy — as well as the sweeping valleys of Mlynická and Furkotská dolina below. On a clear day the view stretches far beyond the Tatras to the Low Tatras, Veľká Fatra and even the distant Branisko hills. In summer the peak buzzes with day-trippers and hikers; in winter the surrounding slopes transform into a lively ski resort, giving the whole area a completely different, energetic feel.

• Štrbské Pleso — blue trail through Furkotská dolina or directly from the lake; approx. 1.5–2 hrs; moderate difficulty
• Upper chairlift station at Chata pod Soliskom (1,850 m) — red trail to the summit; approx. 20–30 min from the station; easy

• A chairlift runs from Štrbské Pleso to Chata pod Soliskom (approx. 1,850 m), cutting the ascent to a short walk — ideal if you want the views without the full climb.
• Chata pod Soliskom offers refreshments and rest just below the final stretch to the top.
• The summit and surrounding valleys fall within Tatra National Park and the Furkotská dolina and Mlynická dolina nature reserves — park regulations apply.
• A wooden cross erected in 2013 stands on the summit, marking the 10th anniversary of the chalet's reconstruction.

A piece of history you might not expect: back in 1935 the slopes of Predné Solisko hosted the very first FIS Nordic Skiing World Championships — making this accessible, cheerful peak one of the founding sites of competitive skiing history.
