Prašivá is a modest but wonderfully scenic peak in the Low Tatras, rising above the Demänovská Valley some 13 km south of Liptovský Mikuláš. It's the kind of summit that rewards you with a huge panorama without demanding a grueling high-mountain trek.

The peak sits on a long ridge branching north from Krúpova hoľa in the main ridge of the Ďumbier Tatras. Its grassy slopes and scattered dwarf pine allow a full 360-degree view — on clear days you can spot numerous Low Tatras summits, as well as the High Tatras, Chočské vrchy, Oravská Magura, and even the Beskids and Malá Fatra. In summer the meadows are green and full of light, autumn turns the hillsides golden, and winter brings quiet, snow-covered ridgelines with far-reaching views in every direction.

• From the Kosienky junction (meadow) via Javorie saddle and Tanečnica — yellow trail, moderate difficulty
• From the south, from Krúpova hoľa on the main ridge (Cesta hrdinov SNP) via the Kráľov stôl junction — yellow trail
• From Demänovská or Jánska Valley via Javorie saddle — red trail

• The eastern part of the massif belongs to the Ďumbier National Nature Reserve, where nature protection rules apply
• The whole massif lies within Nízke Tatry National Park

Despite its modest elevation, Prašivá offers a real sense of mountain openness — the ridge connecting the Demänovská and Jánska valleys has long served as a natural herders' route, and the broad meadows around the summit still recall those pastoral days.
