Poľana (1,890 m a.s.l.) stands in the main ridge of the Low Tatras, offering some of the finest panoramic views in central Slovakia. Perched above the Demänovská Dolina valley, it sits firmly within the Low Tatras National Park and rewards those who make the effort with a sweeping, unobstructed horizon.

The summit and its surrounding ridge are open and rocky — classic alpine meadow terrain that strips away the treeline and leaves you face to face with the sky. On a clear day the views stretch to the High Tatras, Chočské vrchy, Orava Magura, the Beskydy, the Malá Fatra and parts of the Veľká Fatra. In winter the ridge can be icy and exposed; in summer it is an airy, breezy walk above the world. The ridge forms a watershed between the Váh river basin to the north and the Hron basin to the south.
