Podmokła (1001 m a.s.l.) is a quiet, forested summit in the western part of the High Ridge (Wysoki Grzbiet) of the Jizera Mountains — a peaceful escape that rewards visitors with tranquillity and the raw, unhurried character of the Sudetes. If you are looking for a walk away from the crowds, this is your place.

The summit is blanketed in dense forest typical of this part of the Sudetes, with a calm, wild atmosphere that is especially beautiful in autumn when the woodland turns golden. The geology here is surprisingly varied — Carboniferous porphyritic granites dominate the southern side, while ancient Palaeozoic Jizera gneisses make up the northern slopes. No grand panorama awaits at the top, but the journey through unspoilt mountain forest more than makes up for it.

How to reach the summit:

• Świeradów-Zdrój — the Main Sudeten Trail (Główny Szlak Sudecki), running Świeradów-Zdrój – Świeradowiec – Izerskie Garby – Szklarska Poręba, passes approximately 650 m from the summit — difficulty: easy to moderate.
• An alternative trail from Świeradów-Zdrój via Świeradowiec and Hala Izerska to Szklarska Poręba also passes close to the peak.

The old German name for this peak — Tiefengrundkamm — hints at the boggy, deep-valley character of the surrounding terrain, a reminder that the Jizera Mountains have a long and layered history stretching back to the very formation of the Karkonosze-Jizera block.
