Ostra Mała is the highest summit of the Rudawy Janowickie range, and though modest at first glance, its rocky top hides a real treasure — dramatic granite formations crowned by a viewing platform carved into the rock back in 1886. Despite its unassuming 945 metres, it delivers one of the finest panoramas in the Western Sudetes.

The summit rocks are wrapped in a quiet spruce forest that offers cool shade in summer and a frosty, fairy-tale look in winter. The approach is gentle without steep sections, making it a great choice for families. From the viewing platform you'll see the Karkonosze range, the Jelenia Góra Valley, the Izera Foothills, and the Wałbrzych, Kaczawa and Kamienne mountains — on clear days even distant Mount Ślęża is visible. It's worth a short detour to the nearby rock formations known as the Horses of the Apocalypse.

• Kowary — green trail, approx. 1.5–2 hours, easy to moderate
• Czarnów (Czartak mountain hut) — red or yellow trail, moderate approach
• Strużnica — trail junction below the summit, convenient starting point

• The summit rock is accessed via steps carved into the stone in 1886
• Watch for elevation confusion on maps — the marked 935 m point is a geodetic marker, not the true summit
• Nearby on the southern slope stand the distinctive rocks called the Horses of the Apocalypse

The Horses of the Apocalypse got their name from scouts camping in Strużnica who were putting out a grass fire around the rocks — a small story that's now part of local folklore.
