Ostra is one of those peaks in the Beskid Wyspowy range that favors quiet forest trails over crowded viewpoints. Rising to 925 m above sea level in the mountain range that bears its name, it may not offer a sweeping summit panorama, but it rewards hikers just below the top.

The entire peak of Ostra is covered in forest, creating cool, shaded trails in summer and a striking display of color in autumn. The real views open up on the southern slopes, above the Ostra-Cichoń pass, just below the tree line — from here you can admire Radziejowa, Dzwonkówka, Kicznia, the massive bulk of Modyń, Gorc, Turbacz, and Wielki Wierch. It's a perfect spot to pause and take in the scenery before continuing through the woods. Streams flowing down from Ostra's slopes feed into the Jastrzębik and Starowiejski streams, adding a quiet watery charm to the landscape.

• Limanowa — via Łyżka, Pępówka, Skiełek and Jeżowa Woda to Ostra, continuing to the Ostra-Cichoń pass — a longer route, moderate difficulty
• Kamienica — via Modyń and the Ostra-Cichoń pass, then along Ostra's northern slopes to Golców and Limanowa — an alternative ridge route

Ostra is a peak for those who value the calm of the forest over chasing panoramic viewpoints — and the view from its southern slopes is reward enough on its own.
