Ořešník is a striking rocky summit in the Jizera Mountains, crowned by an asymmetrical granite crag rising above dense forest. It's a place where raw nature meets history — a cross has stood on the summit since 1813, and the steel railing at the lookout dates back to 1898.

The trail winds through beech and sycamore forests with fir and yew trees, part of the Jizerskohorské bučiny nature reserve. In spring and summer keep an eye out for the rare alpine sow-thistle, while autumn paints the beech woods in gold. From the rocky summit, wide views open across the surrounding hills, making this a favorite spot for climbers too — the main rock formations include Ořešník, Stojka, Věž pod Ořešníkem, Zahradní stěna and Zahradní věž.

• From the train station in Hejnice (Raspenava–Bílý Potok line) — red trail, about 3.5 km, demanding route
• Longer route via Ferdinandov — starting on the green trail, then yellow through Štolpichy to the junction by the Velký Štolpich waterfall, continuing on the red trail to the summit

• On the Zahradní slope stands the Krause cross, a memorial to a tragic accident in 1922 — take care near the rock edges
• The rocks are popular with climbers, so expect to share the trail with climbing groups

Legend has it that in 1819, two friars fell to their deaths while repairing the summit cross — a haunting story that still adds a mystical air to this rocky peak.
