Obidowiec is a peak in the heart of Gorce, sitting right on the famous Main Beskid Trail, with a scenic meadow that tends to make hikers linger longer than planned. Here the spruce forest suddenly opens up, revealing a sweeping panorama of the Tatras, Beskid Wyspowy, and neighboring Gorce summits.

The ridge of Obidowiec is covered mostly with spruce forest, but the Obidowiec meadow and smaller gaps between the trees are the real reward for hikers. The view of the Tatras was famously described by Władysław Orkan, the celebrated poet of Podhale, who marveled at the massive 'blood-red' peaks glowing in the setting sun. In spring, the meadow bursts into a carpet of crocuses, making it an especially beautiful season to visit. The summit lies within Gorce National Park, and the border between the villages of Obidowa and Poręba Wielka runs right across its top.

• On the ridge, along the trail toward Turbacz, stands a memorial built from wreckage of a medical evacuation plane that crashed here on 25 May 1973
• Next to the memorial stretches the roughly 200 m long Skałki Skalińskie — rocky outcrops and exposed conglomerate and sandstone formations
• The area falls within Gorce National Park protection zone

This is a place where nature and history intertwine in a striking way — a picturesque meadow with Tatra views sits right beside a memorial to an aviation tragedy, giving this corner of the Gorce mountains its unique atmosphere.
